Until the figures are in the stores, Joe Attacktix and Web of Webhead will be previewing the new Star Wars Attacktix Series 4 and Transformers Attacktix Series 1.

We’re in the home stretch of the previews…only two more to go!  Today’s preview is ready to bring robotic death to the universe…:

IG 88

IG-88

  • Attack: Medium Missile
  • Defense: Large Base
  • Points: 30
  • Attacktix Class: Specialist
  • Star Wars Class: Bounty Hunter
  • Base Speed: 6
  • Special Power: Capture – Specialist
  • Number: (SW/15)4)

First off…IG-88 has an awesome new sculpt!  His legs are a little funky, but they got the look of him exactly right.  He’s spindly, and has that funky pop-can shaped head with all of the little knobs and what not.

Now, power level wise, IG is above the curve…a normal 30 point figure in most respects, with the exception of having a nice Large base.  He also has the Bounty Hunter specific Capture power, this time tuned to Specialists.

One thing sharp-eyed readers will notice, this IG is missing the Bounty Hunter logo.  I’ve been told that he is definitely a Bounty Hunter class figure (‘natch), so we’ll see if the logo makes it to the normal booster release.

That’s it for today.  Make sure to check the Joe Attacktix site for the Transformers review.  Also, keep in mind that the Intergalactic Showdown set should be in stores now, run out there and check it out!

Check back here tomorrow as we finish off the previews with the new Boba Fett, and then we’ll finish off Friday with a review and nice big roup shot. – B

Pure awesomeness. Best figure in Series 4…besides Slave Leia and the ‘Woks.

How astute is my five-year-old son? After looking at the photo, he immediately asks me what team this guy is on!

Capture Specialist could be a very useful special power. Imagine snagging your opponent’s Medic Droid, especially just before it returns a figure to play! He’d also obviously be very good against any other Bounty Hunters (you know they don’t have any loyalty to each other anyway).

3. Recondo - June 29, 2006

I am far and away most excited for this figure.. so much so that I can’t wait! If IG-88 wasn’t in wave 4, I would not feel near the urgency to buy the wave (& would probably wait a few months before I did). Now if we could only get a Zuckuss, 4-Lom, & Dengar!!! (hey, a guy can dream, can’t he? ;))

4. Recondo - June 29, 2006

PS With a large base & such a thin profile, he’s going to be a tough one to hit with a missile launcher (maybe even as close to “missile launcher proof” as possible).

Earlier this year we discovered a ‘mistake’ on the Hasbro Attacktix site where they listed a past Bossk with the special power…

“BOUNTY- capture attacking figure” Just like Vengence but you get to keep and use the figure that knocked yours over.

I was really wishing that IG-88 would have this power (or, at least, it would show up somewhere) Who knows, perhaps flying Boba will have it.

That’s so cool. I would like to have that.

It’s a bad thing that my stupid ugly friend broke my Leia Slave. She broke the grapple!
