Star Wars Attacktix Series 4 Previews: Solid Gold Friday! June 9, 2006

Posted by webofwebhead in Attacktix, CMG, Previews, Star Wars.

Until the figures are in the stores, Joe Attacktix and Web of Webhead will be previewing the new Star Wars Attacktix Series 4 and Transformers Attacktix Series 1.

Today's previews are from the Intergalactic Shodown pack:

Luke (Gold)

Luke Skywalker

  • Attack: Lightsaber Slash
  • Defense: Large Base
  • Points: 30
  • Attacktix Class: Warrior
  • Star Wars Class: Rebel
  • Base Speed: 10
  • Special Power: Recruit – Princess Leia
  • Number: (SVT/03)

"There is another…"

First off, keep in mind that the actual product does have a gold base, as shown in the packaging above.  Here for 30 points we have the standard Episode IV Luke figure.  His Special Power is very story-centric…if he falls, Leia is there to take his place.  And who might lead Luke to the Dark Side of the Force?

Vader (Gold)

Darth Vader

  • Attack: Lightsaber Slash
  • Defense: Large Base
  • Points: 40
  • Attacktix Class: Leader
  • Star Wars Class: Empire
  • Base Speed: 12
  • Special Power: Attackback – All Empire
  • Number: (SVT/04)

The uber-popular Series 1 armored vader makes an appearance here as a gold based figure.  Similar in stats to the original version, this one has a more mainstream 12 speed.  However, his Special Power is where it's at on this fig.  We've already seen the power of x2 and x3 Attackbacks on other figures…but never an Attackback – All.  This Vader is set to lead the charge of any Empire only team…his demise could easily lead to a wicked retaliation if his Special goes your way.

That's it for today.  Make sure to check the Joe Attacktix site for the Transformers Gold Figure previews of Super Optimus Prime and Megatron.  Check back here next week for "Mega" Monday. – B

Holy cow! An Attackback ALL?! That’s crazy! The Empire has been dying for a powerful striker, and now they’ll have one. I don’t care if it’s only a 15% chance (and I seriously doubt it’s that low), that could mean the end of the game right there. Whew. Definitely going to have to get one of these packs. But what to do with the other figures? Clever Hasbro, giving us this figure with the Transformers and trying to hook us Star-Wars-Only folks…

The only thing I fear with Vader’s power is that he’s pretty much going to force the opponent to attack him last.. or nearly last… EVERY time. It just won’t be worth the risk to mess with Vader early on. Granted, this is not unlike the series 1 armored Vader (which also usually dictated that he be killed last.. or at least after the troopers were all dead), but the consequences are much worse this time around. Yikes! 🙂

Moral of the stories A never shoot a gold Kam B never play against an all empire team with vader C 3 tarkins+vader= ow.
