Until the figures are in the stores, Joe Attacktix and Web of Webhead will be previewing the new Star Wars Attacktix Series 4 and Transformers Attacktix Series 1.

Today's previews are two of the great military minds of the Star Wars Universe…

Admiral Ackbar

Admiral Ackbar

  • Attack: Medium Missile
  • Defense: Medium Base
  • Points: 30
  • Attacktix Class: Leader
  • Star Wars Class: Rebel
  • Base Speed: 6
  • Special Power: Recruit – Rebel
  • Number: (SW/14)4)

First up is the Leader of the Rebel fleet, one of the greatest military minds of the Rebel Alliance, Admiral Ackbar.  The Admiral has a very solid and common configuration for a 30 point launcher figure with a medium sized base and missile, as well as a base speed of 6.  Fittingly, he has a Recruit power that works with any Rebels, giving him plenty of flexibility to fit into a Rebel-centric squad.

At the other end of the spectrum we have the commander of the first Death Star…

Grand Moff Tarkin

Grand Moff Tarkin

  • Attack: Medium Missile
  • Defense: Large Base
  • Points: 20
  • Attacktix Class: Leader
  • Star Wars Class: Empire
  • Base Speed: 6
  • Special Power: Vengeance – Leader
  • Number: (SW/16)4)

Tarkin is a powerful figure…with a Large base and Medium missile for only 20 points, he's certainly above the curve for similar figures like Ackbar, with both a larger base and a cheaper point cost.  His Special Power, the rare Vengeance, is also very flexible, allowing him to take out any opposing Leader if it hits, even if that figure is say a Transformers Leader figure.  Look for Tarkin to show up on both themed and non-themed teams.

That's it for today.  Make sure to check the Joe Attacktix site for the Transformers previews.  Check back here tomorrow as Joe and I cover the Gold Based figures from the Intergalactic Showdown set. – B

1. YodaBreaker - June 8, 2006

Finally, someone who can inflict damage to Leaders, as General Grievous can do to Warriors! I could see some fun battles between him and a team with Series 4 Armored Vader – call the theme “Control of the Empire.”

2. Redemption_rocks - June 8, 2006

:O *drools* Pure tarkin team sounds fun…and right up my alley…now all I need is a death star or three πŸ˜‰ – RR

3. Recondo - June 8, 2006

A large base, medium missile, & 6 tix all of only 20 points? WOW. Seems like a darn good deal for a figure.. gunna be hard not to have Tarkin on your team (and that doesn’t even take into account his power & possible high “white” % ratio). πŸ™‚

4. Ben Kenobi - June 8, 2006

Looks as if Tarkin is a *much needed* good figure for the weak series 3 Empire. Now I just need to get my Leia out and see them bicker and argue. πŸ˜‰

Admiral Akbar looks pretty cool. He will be fun to put him on a team with some X-wing pilots and a series 5 Lando.

I love these spoilers!

5. Yaggleberry Finn - June 9, 2006

Tarkin definitely looks to be a great figure. But why is it the young Tarkin? That would be an E3 character, and it seems all the rest of this series are from ROTJ.

6. Ben Kenobi - June 9, 2006

Even the old Tarkin wouldn’t fit in. He was only in E4.

7. webofwebhead - June 9, 2006

With the exception of Series 1, which was Ep. III only, I think every set has had a few figs that weren’t from the same set as the rest. Like the random Darth Maul in Series 2…probably the only Ep. I fig in the bunch…

8. Nathan Gresham - June 12, 2006

I am 7. Me and my bruther love to play ATTACKTIX. The one player I have always wanted is the Yoda. I have looked on ebay and all the big kids and gron ups have way more money to pay.

How can a reguler kid get a Yoda?
