Each universe has it’s best fighters and cleverest adversaries. It’s time to run down some of the best Intergalactic match-ups. This week it’s Chewbacca vs. Thing.
Chewbacca is a hairy sidekick pilot. Thing is a rocky sidekick pilot. Both love playing games…and winning. Which one rules in Attacktix?
When Wampas Attack(tix) March 27, 2007

The Battle Master for the forthcoming Star Wars Attacktix Series 5 is arriving now for those that pre-ordered it from certain e-tailers. This mighty figure is of course the Wampa…packed with the Hoth version of Luke…

Designed concurrently with Series 5, this mega pack is the first of the Star Wars figures I’ve worked on to arrive on the scene. The Wampa gets very little screen time in the original ESB, and gets slightly more play in the Special Edition. Either way you cut it (ouch) there’s not a lot of canon to work with. However…the sculptors did an AWESOME job yet again, creating a great figure that feels more like a statue. I struggled a bit with powering the mighty snow beast…but I finally settled on Battle Cry…it seemed oh so fitting for this creature of the snow – matching his thunderous roar. As we found, when attacked, a Wampa can call for aid from his fellow snow beasts. In a large enough point game, a pack of Wampas would be quite the threat to contend with.
Luke was another story…I took the specific storyline element from this scene, Luke’s rescue by Han, and expanded it. This is a pivotal character building moment for Han, where we see his true grit shine through and his determination to risk his own live to save a friend. I could have easily gone the Rescue – If Han Soloroute, but I felt instead the need to expand that condition out, to allow you to play what if. What if Luke was rescued by the X-Men’s Beast instead? What if he was rescued by Starscream? True to form, the Hoth version of Han is a Captain (you’ll find him and Chewie in the Starter), so Luke’s Rescue – If Captain will work just fine in a storyline game. However, if you’re crossing universes (and really, why aren’t you?), you’ll be sure to find plenty of solid Captain figures to support this strategy in game. Enjoy! – B
The odd inversion of “Dancing with the Stars”… March 26, 2007

My wife and I are suckers for “reality tv”, and one show that we’ve been watching is Dancing with the Stars. But here’s the weird thing…now that we’ve been watching it for a while…I’ve realized that I recognize some of the dancers better that I recognize the “stars”. I mean…what has the guy from 90210 been up to for 13 years? I have no idea, but the girl he’s dancing with, I’d probably recognize her on the street since she’s “won” the event the past two go arounds.
When the professional dancers are more recognizable than the “stars” of the show…it may be time to get bigger stars. I’m just saying is all. – B

I was looking back at some old e-mails last week, and realized that today is my one year anniversary working on the Attacktix design team. I figured now was as good a time as any to go back and write about how that all came about… (more…)
Open Bowling… March 4, 2007

So today we went bowling for the first time in a while, maybe 2 years? It’s been a while. My daughter liked it for about 8 frames in the middle, which is fine. She could just barely get the ball down the alley, but it was fun to watch. Probably my favorite part of the new automated alleys is the mph guage…she clocked in at .99 mph…just barely crossing the line.
Me…I go for speed and power…using a 14 lb alley ball I hit up just over 25 mph on one particular power shot, it was great. You can almost feel the pins wince when you hit them this hard.
Somewhere in the middle of the second game I got a turkey, but that was the highlight of the games. Bowling reminds me of what makes Attacktix so great…that primal thrill of sending stuff flying every which way with one powerful shot after another. – B
