Brett’s Notes: Beast is a great character with a long history. His blue fur has come and gone over the years, but it’s a very recognizable form for him, and makes for a great looking figure. As the resident scientist and doctor, giving him the Rally power seemed like a straightforward choice to add a foundation power to the team. More importantly, it indicates a theme that runs through the X-Men Class, reliance on other X-Men team members. The X-Men live in a world that “fears and hates them”, and are more likely to team up with other mutants than other hero teams. In the game, you will often see X-Men figures that trigger off of other X-Men in one way or another. Of course, being perhaps the most popular team in comics, it’s safe to say that over time there will be plenty of X-Men to choose from.
Joe’s Notes: Beast is a great Striker for the X-Men. He is very low and squat, making him hard to bring down at long range, and proving some trouble for other Strikers with a high point of attack. He has a large attacking hand, much like the Series 1 Chewbacca and Tarfful, who were two of my favorites. The large striking area of his furry hand allows for a powerful strike, capable of killing multiple enemies.
Beast and Sabretooth in Marvel Series 1, reminds me a lot of my Wookiee team, from the original Star Wars line. His paint job looks a bit like Sulley, from Monsters, Inc., but then again I guess they were always similar. He is a 20 pointer, so not as cheap as the 10 point
Spider-Man, but his Special Power will return one of your defeated X-Men to play. For people that enjoy playing with strict themes he will be a very useful member of Xavier’s team!
Look for more previews tomorrow on the Joe Attacktix site. – B
