What’s the deal with “Deal Or No Deal”? February 27, 2006

Deal or No Deal is a just about perfect TV game show…mostly luck, a little bit of skill/math, lots of guts, and something that keeps you screaming at your TV at home. Plus, you can play from your pc for $10,000 a night…what more could you ask for? The game theory is simple and solid…I love it.

Strategy: Breaking R2-Q5 February 17, 2006

While R2-D2 is probably the most recognizable robot of all time, he does have a dark side.
Or, rather, I should say there is a dark version of him, known as R2-Q5. This droid was found on the second Death Star, and has gained notoriety mostly for his resemblance to R2-D2. In Series 3, he has found his way into Attacktix, with his own special effect to bring to the game. But is it strong enough an effect to “break” the game? Let’s take a look…

Review: Attacktix Series 3 February 14, 2006

Attacktix is THE sleeper CMG on the market today. It's geared towards kids (but in theory, so are all of these games), so it slips under the radar of "serious" game reviewers…you probably haven't seen it on the cover of InQuest, let alone inside the mag. Nevertheless, Hasbro has put out a fun game so far…does the third set live up to the hype? Let's take a look…

Coming Soon: Sabertooth Games UFS Preview… February 10, 2006

Sabertooth Games, best known for either the Lord of the Rings minis game, or maybe the Warhammer CCG stuff, is coming out with a new CCG called UFS – Universal Fighting System (UFS is on the back of the cards at least…VS’esque.) Sabertooth Games was good enough to send me two demo decks already. Did they do this because they new I was starting a blog for game reviews, and wanted first crack at me? Heck no. They’ll send anyone a couple of demo decks, and as my crazy uncle always said, free is a very good price. To get your hands on the freebies, check out the Sabertooth site here – http://www.sabertoothgames.com/stg/news.asp. Look for my review of the game at the beginning of next week. - Brett
Welcome to Web of Webhead – The Blogging February 10, 2006

Some of you reading this may know me from my HeroClix days, some from my more recent Attacktix contributions, some from my old Overpower days. In any case, this is what this is all about, and how I ended up here…
Web of Webhead is, or will be, a blog of game reviews, game talk, and sometimes comic reviews and talk, movies, TV, all of the things that occupy my brain when it’s not doing important things like working or focusing on family and friends.
I got into collectible gaming back in 1994 when Magic the Gathering was still new and fresh. I jumped from that game to many others, most notably Overpower, Star Wars, Highlander, Young Jedi, Raw Deal, HeroClix, and Attacktix. I’ve been privileged to be a playtester for many games, including Magi Nation, HeroClix, VS., and Pirates of the Spanish Main. I’ve also tinkered with amateur game design, starting with my own custom cards for Overpower and Star Wars, and more recently full blown game add-ons for HeroClix and Attacktix.
My passion for gaming pushed me into the web for new information and discussion, and I created a series of Yahoo Groups under the “Unofficial” line for games like Overpower and HeroClix. My work on the HeroClix group led to my affiliation with Realmworx, and specifically, HCRealms, a site I had the opportunity to moderate for a number of years and even run as admin for six months or so. Most recently I’ve been a contributing writer to Attacktix Tactics, and now I’ve made the jump to my own “space” again, here on Web of Webhead.
WoW started out as my weekly column on HCRealms, and has gone on to be my column title on Attacktix Tactics as well. As a blog, WoW will be gaming-centric, focusing on game reviews and discussion, though I’ll undoubtedly swerve into other topics from time to time. Thanks for stopping by to have a read, and I hope you enjoy what you see. – Brett
